U.S.P.S. – Drakes Branch


Established in 1853 with Stephen Bedford, Jr. as the first Postmaster; Stephen was listed on the 1860 Census as aged 49, occupation Farmer and Post Master.  This is still an active post office in the United States Postal Service in Charlotte County, Virginia.

MRS. FULTON APPOINTED POSTMASTER AT DRAKES BRANCH
Mrs. Norma Fulton yesterday received her appointment as postmaster at Drakes Branch.  Mrs. Fulton took charge today.  Mrs. D.Q. Eggleston will be her assistant.
Miss Mary Gregory has been postmaster here for four and one half years and with W.S. Gregory as assistant has given excellent service during her term of office.
