 I, Paul V Adams of Charlotte County Virginia being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament as follows.

 1st  - I direct all my just debts be paid.

 2nd - I give and bequeath to my sister Ann E Pugh wife of A C Pugh the sum of two thousand Dollars with full power to dispose of the same as she pleases and to be forever free from the debts or liabilities of her present husband or any husband she may hereafter take.

 3rd  - I give and bequeath to my niece Anna P Goode the sum of one thousand Dollars to do as she pleases with, and to be forever free from the debts and liabilities of her husband or any husband she may hereafter marry.

 4th  - wish my Executors  hereafter named to sell all my real and personal Estate and

I will and bequeath all the rest of my property real and personal including the money arising from my real and personal Estate to be equally divided between them, to any brothers Jno. L Adams and R D Adams to them and their heirs forever.

 7th - I do nominate and appoint R D Adams Executor of this my last will and testament and I hereby revoke all other wills heretofore made by one and I deserve the Court to require the security of my said Executor.  And I do require my said executor in the settlement or management of my estate to be governed by the advice of my friend H A Carrington, to whom I desire my said Executor to pay half of his legal commissions, for the Counsel he may give him in all matters of difficulty, in the winding up of may said Estate and I further direct my said Executor, should it become necessary to employ a Lawyer to attend to my Estate to engage the services of my friend W W Henry.

 In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven.

In Charlotte County Court Dec. term 1877.
The last will and testament of Paul V Adams dec’d was this day produced in Court by R D Adams the Executor therein named and the same was proved by oaths of  F N Carrington and F O Thornton the two subscribing witnesses there to and ordered to be seconded and on the motion of said R D Adams who took the oath of Office and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of thirty thousand dollars without security the will directing that no security should be required conditioned for the dec’d and faithful discharge of the duties of his said office an trust a certificate is granted the said A D Adams for obtaining a Probate of the said will in due forms.
