Mary Jane Vaden was born on June 14, 1910 in Charlotte County, Va.
the daughter of Luther Peyton and Effie Epps Hailey Vaden. She was
raised in Charlotte Co., Va., earned her degree at Longwood College and
later earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of
Chicago.
She faithfully served her country in the Woman's Army Corps during
World War II.
Back
in civilian life she once again felt the necessity of serving her
fellow countrymen and women, and entered into a 30 plus years service
as a social worker at the Veteran's Administration in Salem, Virginia.

Mary
Jane became an avid genealogist and published various articles
and a book on the Vaden Family and their history.
Mary Jane Vaden passed away at the Brookview
Lodge in Farmville on 26 September, 2000 at the age of 90+ years.
She was laid to rest in the Ash Camp Baptist Church Cemetery, in
Keysville, Charlotte Co., VA., where her parents were previously
interred.
