HARRY LIPSCOMB
U. S. Army – Private

 Harry was born on October 27, 1895 in Charlotte County, Virginia, the son of Leonard William and Narcissus Holt Lipscomb.  Harry along with his brothers: Leonard Gordon, William Hinton, Hudson Wallace, Charlie Kelsey and Colgate all registered with the Selective Service prior to World War I.  Their father Leonard William served in Captain Montgomery's Company, Virginia Light Artillery in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.

 
When war broke out, Harry and his brother Charlie Kelsey enlisted and served in the Army.  Harry served in Company H, 125^th. Infantry; Charlie was also a private but it is not known what unit he served in, but both survived the war and returned to Charlotte County where they remained until death.  Five of the brothers are buried at Roanoke Presbyterian Church Cemetery and Colgate is buried at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Charlotte County. VA.
