Born:  December 15, 1915 in  Charlotte County, VA., the son of Alexandria B. and Cora F. Mason, Hilary was raised along with two brothers  in Charlotte County and was educated in the public schools of Charlotte. Hilary died on July 7, 1961.

         

Served:  U.S. Army, during World War II along with his two brothers.  Hilary enlisted  on Dec. 28, 1942, following  Henry B. who enlisted  Feb. 27, 1941 and Hampton who enlisted on April 21, 1942.  Hilary  served in the Transportation Corps which was  responsible for  the movement  of men and  materiel by truck, rail, air and sea  into the various ports of the theaters of war.

Married: To the former Bessie Bigger (6-18-1921/12-27-2014) and  this union was blessed with a son and a daughter.

Buried:  Staunton River Baptist Church Cemetery, Aspenwall, Charlotte Co., VA.
