Drakes Branch High School

Drakes Branch High School, Drakes Branch, Charlotte Co., VA.

Carry me back to Drakes Branch High School
(To be sung to the tune of:  Carry Me Back to Old Virginny)

Carry me back to Drakes Branch High School,
There’s where my love of learning first began to grow.
There’s where we lived by the rule that is golden,
There’s where this old home-sick heart has longed to go.
There’s where I labored so hard for high honors,
Day after day safe within its dusty walls.
No place on earth do I love more sincerely
Than Drakes Branch High School,
Its old, beloved walls.

Carry be back to Drakes Branch High School,
There’s where by love of baseball first began to grow.
There’s where I played basketball in the springtime,
And Twiddy’s Creek was the greatest place to go,
For, there, in summer, you’d find us in swimming,
Proving to all that our joy could not be brought.
No place on earth do I love more sincerely
Than Drakes Branch High School,
Whose teachers truly taught.
