U. S. Marine Corps - Aviation Ordnanceman

Daniel Peyton Edwards  was born May 31, 1943 in Henry County, Va. and raised in Sandston, VA., the son of Daniel Peyton Edwards Sr. and Esther Valentine Griffin Edwards. He was raised in Sandston, Va., later graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Administrative Justice. Danny was a Henrico County police officer; an associate professor at Southside Virginia Community College, John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville and retired as  a Major from the Virginia Department of Corrections as Chief of Security. Daniel truly loved airplanes and was a certified flight instructor.  He was the founding President of the Farmville chapter EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).  Daniel  died on March 12, 2012 at Appomattox, VA.


Danny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he worked in the Aviation Ordnance Department at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C., and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).


He was a brother of Masonic Order, A.F. & A.M. of Virginia and member of the Scottish Rite.


Daniel Peyton Edwards, Jr. dedicated his life to the service of his county, his family, and his fellow men and lived life to the fullest, a man who will truly be missed by those who held him dearest.
