Brick Tavern Farm: this historic home is located on the south side of  Routes 40 and 47, .1 mile west of the intersection of  Routes 40 & 47. and east of the Courthouse building.  It was built around 1820 by William M. Watkins consisting of  2 stories with a basement, and containing four rooms with a central hall on each of the main floors; the building  has been utilized as a residence, a tavern run by Wyatt Caldwell from 1830 – 1853 and a private school.  A frequent overnight guest was John Randolph.
