ABRAHAM LINCOLN NAPIER
U.S. Army, Co. G, 6th. Armored Infantry Regiment, World War II
Abraham L. Napier was born 26 March 1923 in Charlotte County, Virginia, the son of Burnette "Bernie" and Irene Frances Rickmond Napier. He was raised on the family farm alongside numerous brothers and sisters. Abraham was educated in the public schools of Charlotte County.
On 02 May 1942, Abraham was joined in
Eugenia Abigail Cole. As World War II
raged on two continents Abraham answered his call to duty in support of
country and on 16 February 1943, at Roanoke, Virginia, he enlisted in
Assigned to the 6th. Armored Infantry he left his homeland for the North African Theatre, and on to a landing in Italy on 28 October 1943. From 04-08 January of 1944 he participated in the Battle of Monte Porchia, a bloody encounter which would claim his life.
Abraham was killed in action on 08 January 1944 and is interred in the cemetery near his mother and father, at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church, Charlotte County, Virginia.
