Peggy Ann Hilliard Keeling , 82, of Keysville, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Monday March 2, 2015. She was born in Danville, Virginia on September 12, 1932 to Cumbia Clementine Vass and Jesse Hiram Hilliard. She is survived by her husband, Albert Cordell Keeling as well as her two daughters- Angela Keeling Woodruff and Katherine Keeling Clatterbuck. In addition, she has four adoring grandchildren ( Hannah, Nolan, Madeline, and Walker). She is also survived by three sisters (Joy H. Millner, Ruby H. McLelland, and Joanne H. Turnquist) as well as her brother( Hiram Hilliard). Preceding her in death were siblings Rudy Hilliard, Gary Hilliard, and Jean Arendall. Peggy Keeling was an elementary school teacher for 36 years. She was an active member and choir member of Ash Camp Baptist Church for many years. She served as a docent for the Red Hill Auxillary and was a devoted volunteer to Charlotte County Friends of the Library, Woman's Club, and the APVA. Peggy and Albert were married in June 1958. Peggy was a devoted, gracious, loving, kind-hearted woman who always cared more for others than herself. She loved being a grandmother ( " Honey" ) to her four grandchildren most of all.A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at Ash Camp Baptist Church in Keysville, Virginia on Friday March 6th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Ted Smith will officiate. There will be a reception to follow in the church's fellowship hall. All are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Charlotte County EMS / Rescue Squad. Thank you. Wanda Mann Kelley, age 53, of Drakes Branch, VA, departed life Monday, December 8, 2014 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Thomas Kelley; son, James Thomas Kelley of the home; daughter, Nicole Thrash of Bracey; three sisters, Della Duffie of Charlotte Court House, Josephine (Lawrence) Shores of Drakes Branch, Nancy (Tommy) Goodrich of Keysville; and brother, Scottie (Tammy) Mann of Wylliesburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lillian Mann, two brothers, James Mann of Sandy Hook, and Ronnie Mann of Boydton. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend who loved the Lord, her church family and singing hymns. She had a heart bigger than the highest mountain and faith that could not be broken. She had a good relationship with all her nieces and nephews, with Robin who has stuck by her side every step of this journey.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014, in the Drakes Branch Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Wade Bruce Keller, age 70, of Bassett, VA, passed away March 23, 2015. He was the son of the late Jackson and Texie Keller of Keysville, VA. Wade was employed by Burlington Industries and retired on medical disability in 1981. He is survived by three sons, Bruce Keller and wife Julie, Brian Keller both of Edmond, Okla., and Jason Keller of Altavista, VA; two granddaughters, Kaylee and Kinley; three brothers, Edward Keller and wife, Helen of Yorktown, VA, Lawrence Keller of Rice, VA, Richard Keller and wife, Teresa of Blackstone, VA; two sisters, Elsie Shaver of Chester, VA and Jean Hunter and husband, Ray of Halifax, VA; and eleven nieces and nephews. 
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home with the Reverend David Boarman officiating, with interment follow in the Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery. Frank Berry Rutledge, age 96, of Drakes Branch, Va., passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012. He is survived by two grandsons, Berry Van Rutledge and his wife Tammy; and Christopher Franklin Rutledge; a daughter-in-law, Marguerite Rutledge; two brothers, Amos Rutledge and his wife, Edith, and Sam Rutledge; a sister, Annie Lee Major; and numerous nieces and nephews. Greta Nichols Kernodle, 19, Loses Her Battle With Leukemia
High-spirited in spite of suffering, Mrs. Greta Nichols Kernodle, 19, underwent numerous blood transfusions in her gallant fight against the ravages of Leukemia, only to die Saturday, July 26 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Mrs. Kernodle was born in Charlotte County, and spent the first twelve years of her life here. She attended Charlotte Elementary School.  She moved to Indianapolis in Sept., 1945.  There she attended Fleming Garden Grade School and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1951.  At Ben Davis, she was a member of the Booster Club and the Sunshine Society.  Formerly she was employed at the Radio Corp. of America, in Indianapolis.
She was married to Richard Kernodle of Dallas, Texas on January 6 of this year and had lived there until she became ill and then moved back to Indianapolis.  She was entered in the hospital soon thereafter.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at the Corkle Funeral Home with burial in Floral Park Cemetery there.
Survivors are her husband, Richard H. Kernodle; her father, Eugene Nichols, both of Indianapolis; her mother, Mrs. Helen Williams and five half sisters of Drakes Branch and three step-sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Roy, Mrs. Pauline Locke and Miss Katy Collester, all of Indianapolis.

Inez Louise Hardison Killip, 81, of South Fork Road, Appomattox, died at Lynchburg General Hospital Friday morning December 18, 2015. She was the widow of James Leslie Killip. 
Inez was born May 4, 1934 in Caribou, Maine a daughter of the late Beatrice Tomlinson and Clarence Hardison. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Phenix, Va. and a homemaker. 
She is survived by two sons, David Killip and wife, Janet and Jim Killip all of Forest; two daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Killip and Sandra Killip both of Appomattox; a brother, Donald Hardison and wife, Eva of Caribou, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn and Alberta and a brother, Harvey. 
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday December 21, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Phenix, officiated by Dr. Chris King.

Frances Masters King, of Saxe, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 20,2012. She was 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dennis King; her parents, Hobart Masters and Bertha Masters; four sons, Steven, Billy, Sporty and Chunk King; and a grandson, Adam Whitlow.
