 Dr. Samuel Claiborne Hatcher, of Ashland, announces the engagement of his daughter, Anne Rebecca, to Eugene Christopher Smith, Jr., of Franklin.  The wedding will take place in April.

 MISS HAYDON MR LOCKE TO WED IN SUMMER
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rannie Haydon of Kilmarnock announce the engagement of their daughter, Marion Joyce of Richmond and Kilmarnock, to Joseph Mason Locke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Macey Johnson Locke of Keysville. Miss Haydon is a graduate of Madison College. Mr. Locke, who served four years in the U.S. Air Force, is attending Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary. A July wedding is planned.

 Mr. and Mrs. Bill Osborne of Wylliesburg wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Lucille, to Mr. David Wayne Griles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Griles of Saxe, Va. Miss Osborne is a graduate of Randoph-Henry and is planning to enter nurses training at Halifax Community Hospital.  Mr. Griles is now employed with the Continental Telephone Company of Virginia. A December wedding has been planned.

 MISS BRANDON AND MR NEWCOMB TO WED
Mr. and Mrs. J. Burton Brandon of Sutherlin, are today announcing the engagement of their daughter, Lessie Rebecca, of Oxford, N.C., to Raleigh T. Newcomb, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Newcomb of Drakes Branch. Miss Brandon holds a position with the Southern Railway and Mr. Newcomb, recently discharged from the Army in which he served several months, also has returned to his former position with the Southern Railway. The wedding will take place in the early fall.

Wilson-Crews Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilson of Versailles, Ky. announce the engagement of their daughter, Clarice Jewell, to David Whitfield Crews, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Crews, of Saxe.
Miss Wilson was an honor graduate of the Versailles High school and attended the University of Louisville.
Mr. Crews attended the University of Richmond and now holds a position with the Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corp. in Louisville, Ky.
The wedding will take place June 15th.

Boliek-Collier
Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Collier of Meherrin announce the engagement of their daughter, Annie Madeline to William Howard Boliek, son of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Boliek of Charlotte Court House.
Miss Collier is a graduate of Green Bay High school and M.M. Layne's Business School and for the past two years has been employed by the J.E. Garland State Manager of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co., in Farmville.
Mr. Boliek is a graduate of Randolph Henry High school and has recently received his discharge after serving thirty-one months in the Pacific area.

Driver-Poindexter
Mr. and Mrs. J. Robertson Poindexter of Phenix, Charlotte County, Virginia, recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Jean Dearing, to Mr. Frank Shreckhise Driver, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Driver of Mt. Sidney, Virginia.
Miss Poindexter is a graduate of Madison College, Harrisonburg, Virginia.  She was recently discharged from the WAVES after serving for three years at Naval stations in New York.
Mr. Driver is a graduate of Bridgewater College and later did graduate work at Columbia University.  He served overseas in the Army with the Military Intelligence Service as a Special Agent, Counter Intelligence Corps.
The wedding will take place in April.

Miss Pattie Smith Will Marry In England
Mr. and Mrs. Ormonde Smith, of "Oakland," announce the engagement of their daughter, Pattie Venable, to Captain Donn Grey Kaylor, of Indianapolis.
Miss Smith was graduated from Montreat Junior College and State Teachers' College in Farmville, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.  She also studied at the University of Virginia and New York University.  At present she is doing field service with the American Red Cross in England.
Captain Kaylor is the son of Mrs. Robert L. Kaylor and the late Mr. Kaylor, of Indianapolis.  He was graduated from the University of Indiana, and received his commission at Miami Beach Training School in 1942.  He is now serving overseas as Special Service Officer with the Air Corps.
The wedding will take place in the late Winter.

Miss Parks, R.D.M. Dimmette Engaged
Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Parks of  Keysville announce the engagement of their daughter Julia Margaret to Charlie Gwyn Dimmette R.D.M. 3-c who is attached to the Atlantic Fleet of  the U.S.N. son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde C. Dimmette of Ronda, N.C.
Miss Parks is an employee of the Chatham Blanket Mfg. Co. of  Elkin N.C.
R.D.M. Dimmette was engaged in farming prior to induction into the service, November 23, 1943.
The wedding will take place in December.

Miss Loving To Wed Lt. Gibson, December
Mrs. Elsie Jackson Loving, announces the engagement of her daughter, Grace Evelyn, to Lieutenant Alton Brooks Gibson, USNR, of  Laurinburg, N.C., and Long Beach, Calif., son of Mrs. A.D. Gibson, of  Laurel Hill, N.C.
Miss Loving received her A.B. degree from the Woman's College of the University of  North Carolina where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and her MA degree from Duke University.
Lieutenant Gibson received his AB degree from Duke University and his MA degree from Columbia University.
The wedding will take place December 16 at Long Beach, Calif.

NICHOLSON-GUY
The engagement of Miss Anna Christian Guy, of Richmond, and Mr. Clarence Maurice Nicholson, Jr., also of Richmond, was announced Saturday.  The marriage will take place in November.
Miss Guy has visited frequently in the county, and has many friends here.
Mr. Nicholson is the son of Dr. and Mrs. C.M. Nicholson, who reside at "Roxobel", their country home near Charlotte Courthouse.
